Mother Holle

Mother Holle is shaking her pillows, so that it can snow on earth. Perhaps you know Mother Holle (Frau Holle in German) from the Grimm Fairytale. In fact the Holle/Holda (connected with the Elder and the mugwort) is a much older deity/Goddess. She is believed to be an ancient germanic Goddess for vertility and connected to the weather. Women went to her places, to ask for Children-souls to get pregnant, because she cares about children and rules some Kind of underworld (like in the fairytale). Sometimes she is associated with the nordic Goddess Hel, and might be that her Name turned to Hölle (Hell) with the spreading of christianity.
In These nights she is believed to fly over the sky with her wild hunt, just like the ancient God Woden (Odin).
